Neighboring Faiths Class and Blue Cliff Monastery Visit
The Neighboring Faiths class offers a comprehensive exploration of diverse religious and spiritual beliefs. Throughout the semester, students learn about the history, tenets, practices, and cultural contexts of various faith communities. The course culminates in an in-depth study of Buddhism, including field trips to local faith communities.
The final trip is to Blue Cliff Monastery, an 80-acre Thiền Buddhist monastery in Pine Bush, New York. Founded in 2007 by practitioners from the Plum Village Tradition, Blue Cliff Monastery follows Thích Nhất Hạnh’s Order of Interbeing, emphasizing mindfulness, compassion, and engaged living.
